Abuja is a city known to be the house of the Nigerian government, but that’s not all there is. The city also claimed the most diverse and well-stocked bookshops in the country. In these five carefully selected bookshops, readers, both international and Nigerian, will find one or two bestsellers to buy.
So read on and discover the best bookstore in Abuja, and at the end go pick a book.
Best Bookstore in Abuja at a Glance
1. National Mosque Abuja Bookshop
Pray and buy a book—that’s what I’d mottoed for this national mosque. In this architectural grandiosity, a national icon sits: a humble bookshop that intellectuals visit to buy books low-key.
It won’t be a shock to realize in this bookshop that Christians won’t find a Christian book to buy here. But Muslim readers, on the other hand, would find a sea of books here to buy. For the most part the mosque itself, and of course the bookshop, is worth visiting.
2. The Bookseller Limited
This Bookseller branch in Abuja, which is located at Plot 1723, Wuse 2, Abuja, is an extension of the bookseller in Ibadan, where the headquarters stood.
Ultimately, the main bookshop in Ibadan is known to be packed with one of the largest collections of books in the country. And that extends here too.
3. Rovingheight Bookstore

Rovingheight is the only bookshop in Nigeria with the most chains of stores. In Abuja, it has two standard bookstores that harbor an incredible collection of books for readers. Although you’ll pay a premium price for your book of choice, rest assured that the scarce book you’re looking for is already here.
Its first bookstore in Abuja is anchored at Shop S1, 2nd Floor, City Center Mall, Gimbiya St, Garki, Abuja. The store welcomes you with a glass door that opens up to the wonderland of the store’s collection. And don’t expect to find just self-help books here but diverse arrays of books.
The second Abuja store is located at CVS Plaza, 145 Adetokunbo Ademola Cres, Wuse 2, Abuja. Books here are neatly organized and cleanly arranged in perfect order of categories. If you visit this bookshop, there will be no excuse for not getting something to read for sure.
4. Tarbiyah Islamic Bookstore

Tarbiyah Islamic Bookstore is a standard Islamic bookstore by all means that caters to both adults’ and kids’ wants in books. The word “Tarbiyah” itself means to nurture the body and the mind beyond feeding to intellectual and spiritual growth.
The thing about good Islamic books is that they’re not so easy to come by. But Tarbiyah has gone far and beyond to eliminate this. It has stocked basic and advanced Islamic books on their shelves to satisfy parents’ and children’s book needs in all categories.
The bookshop itself is located at 3rd Floor, 21 Blantyre Street, Wuse 2, Abuja, and it’s a cozy environment to be in. The smell of new books will glue you to the store until a book follows you home.
5. Adams Page
Adams page is a bookshop in Abuja that book buyers can visit to buy the excellent books they’re looking for. It is located at 247 Plaza, Kado, Abuja. Their long dark wood shelf is packed with books from different genres, from autobiography to history. And books from popular but scarce authors like George R.R. Martin could also be found in this bookstore.
This bookstore also operates a cafe where internet users could use it to get their work done. And also, a co-working space where joint individuals could rent daily or weekly to get their business moving.
Finale
Even though Abuja is a national city, there are excellent bookshops here too for genuine readers. Next time I’m in the city, the National Mosque and its bookshop are where I’m seeing and buying a nice collection to take back home.
